Dr. Giles spent his childhood in Santa Monica. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in molecular biology, and received his medical degree from UC Davis.

After med school, he competed residency in Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, additional training in addiction, and earned board certifications in both Anesthesia & Addiction Medicine. He retired from his job as a cardiac anesthesiologist before devoting his career to Addiction Medicine in 2005.

Back in 1999 Dr. Giles recognized his own addiction. His work is is to help free others from their own cycle of drug use.

He is the author of Outsmart Your Addiction.
